On Monday, April 8, 2024, North America will be treated to a rare and awe-inspiring sight—a total solar eclipse that will traverse the continent from coast to coast. This celestial event, where the moon will completely cover the sun, will offer a spectacular show for millions of people across Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

The journey of this total solar eclipse begins over the vast expanse of the South Pacific Ocean. As the moon's shadow makes its way towards Earth, the first location in continental North America to experience totality will be Mexico's Pacific coast, near the enchanting city of Mazatlan, at approximately 11:07 a.m. PDT. Weather permitting, spectators along the coast will witness the sun being completely obscured by the moon, casting a temporary veil of darkness over the landscape.

From Mexico, the path of totality of the eclipse will cross into the United States, entering through the state of Texas. The eclipse will then travel through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Small portions of Tennessee and Michigan will also fall under the path of totality, offering residents and visitors a chance to witness this extraordinary event.

As the moon's shadow continues its journey, the eclipse will cross into Canada, first making landfall in Southern Ontario. It will then pass through Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Cape Breton, before exiting continental North America on the Atlantic coast of Newfoundland at 5:16 p.m. NDT.
